New International Airport eight miles from the Hard Rock Hotel Panama set to open in 14 months

Meco The company was awarded two contracts to rehabilitate the airport in Rio Hato Scarlett Martinez, in Cocle. The works represent an investment of $ 53.2 million, and should be completed in 14 months.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Public Works published on the website of PanamaCompra resolution where the Costa Rican company awarded the contract to rehabilitate the runway and build a tunnel to the Panamericana.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority had been awarded to Meco contract to build the passenger terminal, which will have a capacity for 600 people.

In two public events, according to the evaluation committees, Meco was the only company that met all the requirements of the SO.

With the award of the rehabilitation of the airport in Rio Hato, the handle construction projects totaling more than $ 150 million.

Meco won third dry excavation contract for the proposed expansion of the Panama Canal, for $ 36.3 million, and remodeling the airport Enrique Jimenez in the province of Colon for $ 58.3 million. The government already is in negotiations with charter flights from Canada and Ecuador to reach Rio Hato.
